The Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track (I-ACT) will be a first-of-its-kind facility to collectively feature a high-speed test track for electrified, connected, and autonomous vehicles under simulated mobility environments (urban, suburban, and rural areas) and all-weather conditions. I-ACT, led by the Illinois Center for Transportation (ICT), will be the flagship investment of a consortium of public and private sector partners who are building the future of mobility and will focus on the safe and reliable deployment of smart mobility technologies as well as connected and electrified infrastructure. I-ACT can offer core flexible canvas to support the real-world testing of operations and performance, while prioritizing safety, reducing traffic congestion, and battling climate change through electrification.
I-ACT will help position Illinois, the hub of global freight multimodal mobility, as the leader for testing and commercializing solutions for emerging sectors in smart mobility, electrification, clean energy, connectivity, autonomy, freight, and supply-chain logistics. The mission of I-ACT strongly aligns with the State's economic development goals at large by attracting mobility and technology industries, develop workforce training and new jobs, and outline needed protocols and policies.

Jayme, PhD
Research Scientist at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Angeli Jayme is a research scientist in civil engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) working closely with Professor Imad L. Al-Qadi at the Illinois Center for Transportation. Dr. Jayme’s research interests include tire-pavement interaction, asphalt materials, damage evolution, pavement rehabilitation and preservation, and autonomous and connected technology integration into the transportation infrastructure. Dr. Jayme holds a B.S. degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from UIUC, all in civil engineering.
She is one of the core members of planning and preparing the Illinois Autonomous and Connected Track. Also, Dr. Jayme is the principal investigator of the Illinois Department of Transportation project, Illinois, a Leader in Mobility 4.0 and Beyond, in collaboration with the Illinois Autonomous Vehicle Association and Northwestern University. The main deliverable will be a blueprint of multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder efforts to prepare state transportation agencies for Mobility 4.0 – a connected and digitized, multimodal, autonomous system-of-systems. In line with her advocacy for student and professional communities, she has served leadership roles in the ASCE Transportation & Development Institute graduate student chapter and the Graduate Society of Women Engineers at UIUC. Currently, she is a member of the TRB Standing Committee on Pavement Structural Testing and Evaluation (AKP40).
