Essentials in Excavation Safety is designed to educate workers about the hazards associated with trenching and excavation work. Participants will be able to identify potential hazards and what steps can be taken to avoid unsafe conditions when working in and near an excavation site. Virtual reality will be included in the presentation.

Topics covered include:

• Dangers associated with trenching and excavation
• Purpose of OSHA and an employer's responsibilities to their workers
• Access and Egress
• Mobile equipment near an excavation site
• Soil Types and tests

By the end of the class, participants will be able to:

• Identify common excavation hazards
• State steps to avoid unsafe conditions

Attendees will take a pre-test and post-test, and will receive a certificate of completion for attending the program.
